South Milton is a pretty partly thatched village situated only 1.5 miles from Thurlestone Sands. The five beaches at Thurlestone are sandy and safe to swim from. Just around the headland is Bantham, a very popular beach for families, with fine golden sands backed by sand dunes, and it offers a stunning picturesque view of the Avon Estuary and Burgh Island.
Bigbury-on-Sea has ample parking, and lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. You can also join the coastal path at Thurlestone and head west past Bantham onto Bigbury or east passing the pretty village of Hope Cove and on around Bolt Head and its stunning scenery into Salcombe.
The market town of Kingsbridge - the hub of the South Hams - is only three miles away. It has a wide range of shops and a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool and bowls hall. The popular sailing centre of Salcombe is only a short drive away where you can catch a ferry across to the beaches at East Portlemouth.
